Building in Harmony with Earth and Sky Chapter Three

Chapter Three

If you are really serious about energy conservation, you need to roll up your sleeves and perform an actual heat loss calculation on your own home, or the home you propose to build. Boring, hunh?
We can make it a little easier for you, actually with this 2001 version of the book, since new programming methods not available in 1994 allow us to do some of the work for you.
The first task, however, is to determine the average temperature month by month in your own area of the country.
The charts below will help you to quickly assess what the average monthly (mean) temperature is where you live.
As you look at each map, be sure to type the temperature in the box below it. Once you have finished this task, we will prepare a small file that you can print for future reference.
